Moonset, a coven of such promise . . . Until they turned to the darkness.

After the terrorist witch coven known as Moonset was destroyed fifteen years ago—during a secret war against the witch Congress—five children were left behind, saddled with a legacy of darkness. Sixteen-year-old Justin Daggett, son of a powerful Moonset warlock, has been raised alongside the other orphans by the witch Congress, who fear the children will one day continue the destruction their parents started.

A deadly assault by a wraith, claiming to work for Moonset’s most dangerous disciple, Cullen Bridger, forces the five teens to be evacuated to Carrow Mill. But when dark magic wreaks havoc in their new hometown, Justin and his siblings are immediately suspected. Justin sets out to discover if someone is trying to frame the Moonset orphans . . . or if Bridger has finally come out of hiding to reclaim the legacy of Moonset. He learns there are secrets in Carrow Mill connected to Moonset’s origins, and keeping the orphans safe isn’t the only reason the Congress relocated them . . .
Moonset is a book that I was eager to read because I´ve read the other witches trilogy by Scott Tracey - Witch Eyes and I really like it a lot, so when I saw he was going to make another series or trilogy, immediately add it to my TBR list, and although I did not like it as much as Witch Eyes, Moonset story is very interesting and intriguing.

Moonset tells the story of Justin Daggett a seventeen years-old witch and along with his four foster siblings, had been raised by the witch Congress, a Congress that fear them and hate them because they are the children of dark witches that 15 years ago were at war against Congress and committed several terrorist acts that killed many witches and almost finished with the congress. But for some unknown reason, the coven Moonset surrendered and the whole coven was executed, leaving behind five infants, which are called Moonset. Justin and his siblings are feared because the congress fear that they will form a new coven as dangerous as that of their parents, so as part of their education they only are taught harmless spells and history about all the bad that the Moonset coven did.

The story is told from the point of view of Justin, which I liked very much, because I prefer books with male POV. Justin is the middle child, but because he´s really patient, easy-going and is always concerned about others, he´s something like the leader of the group. He and his siblings have not lived in one place for more than a few months, in fact they have moved seven times in the last three years and in every place they´ve a new guardian, appointed by the witch congress. And at the beginning of the book they move to Carrow Mill, a small town that seems to be more connected to the coven Moonset of what they expected.

Among the secondary characters are Justin´s siblings, Malcolm is the older brother, he's athletic and dislikes magic, indeed he´s the least interested in learning magic and he just wants a normal life. Then is Jenna, she´s Justin´s twin sister, she´s a trouble maker, impulsive, rebellious and is constantly angry. Then is Cole,  he´s funny and very talkative and finally we´ve Bailey youngest of the siblings, she is fifteen years-old and she´s the emotional one and the one that get attached to people and places. And then there's Quinn, the new guardian of Justin and Jenna, he´s is a young witch who might be the only one in the world interested in the welfare of the Moonset siblings.

Moonset has an interesting plot, a bit predictable, but I really enjoy the book but sometimes I felt a bit of déjà vu as it reminded me of other books, but overall I liked it! and I can´t wait to read the next book because I want to know a little more about the history of the coven Moonset and about Justin's parents.

I want to thank Flux and Netgalley for providing this eARC for review.

Cover Reveal: Frigid by J. Lynn

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White
Release date: September 10th 2013
Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.

Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.

Isadora’s sick of living a life where she’s only worthy of a passing glance, and when she has the chance to move to San Diego with her brother, she jumps on it. But Isadora’s quickly finding that a “normal” life comes with plenty of its own epic complications—and that there’s no such thing as a clean break when it comes to family. Much as she wants to leave her past behind, she can’t shake the ominous dreams that foretell destruction for her entire family. When it turns out there may be truth in her nightmares, Isadora has to decide whether she can abandon her divine heritage after all.

Some things are worth waiting...

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

I really liked Wait For You and I was waiting desperately to read it, thanks to several the teasers that the author post in her blog and I bought it as soon as it was announced that it was for sale. Wait for you is the first New Adult novel written by Jennifer L. Armentrout under the pen name J. Lynn.

Wait For You is a bit predictable, but otherwise I really like Jennifer's writing, it is simple, funny and with a swoon worthy male protagonist ....In fact, all the guys in this book are super sexy and super hot.

This book is told from Avery´s POV. She´s is a girl that because of something happened to her years ago, she is insecure, she doesn´t trust people and is trying to leave her past behind, so she choose a college away from home and where nobody knows her, hoping for a fresh start .

Cam .... what can I say about Cam ....... if you have read Obsidian written by the same author, you will know what I´m taking about when I say that Cam is like Daemon Black but a light version of him or Daemon after Onyx (or as a friend of Goodreads says: version 3.5). Cam is gorgeous, sexy, he has no shirts because almost all the time he is without one, he´s confident, a little arrogant, but he is also sweet and patient with Avery.

And I like all of the secondary characters, they´re an very interesting group, first we have Jacob and Brit, they´re Avery's friends, these two very funny and very lovable. And we also Ollie and Jase, they´re Cam's friends and my favorite is Ollie, he´s super cute, a little crazy and he gets along very well with Avery.

Wait for You is a New Adult contemporary romance novel, it has its funny moments, its sad moments and a happy ending, but it´s a bit predictable, but a very good story and if have you read any books written by Jennifer L. Armentrout and you liked them, you definitely will like this book and if you have not read a book written by her, you can start with this book if you are over 18 years-old or if you are under age you can begin with the Lux series.

I really liked Wait For You, the first book of the trilogy, and I can not wait to read the next book - Be With Me (it will be Jase and Teresa´s story).

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

Title: Magic Bites (Kate Daniels #1)
Author: Ilona Andrews
Publisher: Ace Books
Release date: April 1st 2007

Rating: 4/5

Buy onAmazon | B&N | BookDepository

When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictably as it arose, leaving all kinds of paranormal problems in its wake.

Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up these magical problems. But when Kate's guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta's magic circles.

The Masters of the Dead, necromancers who can control vampires, and the Pack, a paramilitary clan of shapechangers, blame each other for a series of bizarre killings—and the death of Kate's guardian may be part of the same mystery. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she's way out of her league—but she wouldn't have it any other way…

I had this book on my shelf for almost a year and I had been wanting to read it for a while but there was always another book that I had to read  for a review first, but I finally read this book and  let me tell you that it was really good! Magic Bites did meet my expectations.

The book is seen from Kate Daniels´s POV, she lives in Atlanta in a post-apocalyptic world where magic and technology exist but when magic is working the technology doesn´t and vice-versa, there are shapeshifters (werewolves, werehyena, wererats, etc.), vampires, necromancers, magic users and monsters that roam the city.

Kate is a twenty-five-year-old mercenary, but at the beginning of the story her guardian is murder and she decides to investigate his death. The world where she lives it is a bit hard to explain, so I will not go into much detail about the world-building.

Kate Daniels is an excellent female protagonist, she is strong, brave, sarcastic, able to defend herself, she isn´t intimidated easily and with a very peculiar sense of humor, she always walks with her sword strapped to her back and is not afraid to use it. Other main characters is Curran, The Beast Lord, he is the King of the shifters, he is used to everyone to obey him and do whatever he says, until he meets Kate, they don´t get along at first ..... we'll see where these two end up, he´s a potential love interest.

Among the secondary characters, my favorite is Derek, he´s a werewolf, who gets into trouble when he meets Kate, but it seems that his future looks good. He is a good guy, loyal, protective and a good sense of humor, I hope to see more of him in the following books in the series.

Magic Bites is a urban fantasy novel, so there is no romance, but it hint to a future romance between Kate and one of the protagonists, but there are lots of action, mystery and suspense .... The story has a very interesting twist that I NEVER saw coming, this is a very good book and start of a series. The only thing I feel that was missing was a prologue, to understand a little more (and a bit faster) about the world, since at the beginning it´s quite odd the world where Kate Daniels lives. Now I'm hooked on this series.

In the violent country of Ludania, the classes are strictly divided by the language they speak. The smallest transgression, like looking a member of a higher class in the eye while they are speaking their native tongue, results in immediate execution. Seventeen-year-old Charlaina has always been able to understand the languages of all classes, and she's spent her life trying to hide her secret. The only place she can really be free is the drug-fueled underground clubs where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. It's there that she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy named Max who speaks a language she's never heard before . . . and her secret is almost exposed.

Charlie is intensely attracted to Max, even though she can't be sure where his real loyalties lie. As the emergency drills give way to real crisis and the violence escalates, it becomes clear that Charlie is the key to something much bigger: her country's only chance for freedom from the terrible power of a deadly regime.
I really liked The Body Finder series by Kimberty Derting, so that why I decided to read this book plus this is a dystopian novel and I love this genre.

The main character is Charlaina or Charlie, a girl living in the kingdom of Ludania, where people are divided by caste or classes and each caste speaks their own language. It´s is forbidden and punishable by death to speak a language that don´t belong to your caste (except for the englaise). So Charlie must keep secret her "gift", since she can understand and speak every language in the kingdom, so she must be alert and don´t react to another language other than that of her caste . She was born into the vendor class and her family own a restaurant, she works there and there is where she first sees Max, a soldier ... and he will be the love interest of Charlie.

My favorite characters in this book are Max, and although I'm a little tired of love at first sight or instant-love ... but I liked him. Another character that I really liked is Xander, he helps Charlie in various situations, but do not panic there is NO love triangle in history. And I also liked the character of the evil Queen Sabara, she falls under the wicked queen stereotype, psychotic and she wants snatch "something" of the main protagonist of the story.

The story is in the genre of dystopian novels, but it also felt a bit like epic fantasy and has paranormal elements. I liked the story in general, but there was something missing in it. And I did not see the logic (And at least for me, everything is possible and believable when I read a fiction book), but each class had its own language, supposedly because the queen don´t want that the people unite and overthrow her kingdom, but they still have a base or universal language that is the englaise, which is the language of servants and everyone speak it. So each person speaks the language of their social class plus the englaise, this for when the people need to talk to someone outside of their class.

I enjoyed this book, but I felt something was missing and there are several parts of the plot that are a little predictable, but I liked the ending, because there is no cliffhanger and to some extent this book could be a standalone.
